Dynamisme - AP

by Douglas Wilson

Description

*** These prints are Artist Proofs, prints that didn't quite make the cut to become part of the signed and numbered edition. Because of the nature of letterpress, there are always slight challenges that arise while printing and a few prints aren't quite perfect. Each AP has a slight imperfection - either some stray ink, or a patchy impression - but as many people would agree, this adds to the uniqueness of the print! ***

This fantastic print from Douglas Wilson is titled 'Dynamisme' which is French for dynamism - which means "the quality of being characterized by vigorous activity and progress."

Doug spent a summer living in Geneva, Switzerland and printing as an artist-in-residence at L'Association pour le Patrimoine Industriel (API - The Association of Industrial Heritage). He used the collected letterpress equipment and antique type to make this very-limited edition print.

Signed and marked 'AP' (artist proof) by the artist. Artist proofs feature slight imperfections, such as stray ink or a smudged area. While adding to the uniqueness of the print, artist proofs are available at a reduced price now that the limited edition has sold out.

  • Artist proof (slight imperfections)
  • Signed and marked 'AP' by the artist
  • Two colour print
  • Letterpressed by hand
  • 480mm by 622mm (24.4 by 18.9 in)

Vintage frames and pre-loved frames discovered in markets and charity shops can also provide unique and low-cost framing options. If a frame that you find is larger than the print fret not, a local framer would be able to cut a piece of mount that would allow the print to fit the frame perfectly.
