Matthew Rose, an American artist based in Paris, spells with scissors.
His installations, massive 1000-piece wall-to-wall displays of individual collage works reinvent the process of reading. His exhibitions 'Spelling With Scissors' and 'God & Country' and 'A Kick in the Kunst' brought together the artist's immense visual and textural vocabulary in what several critics cited as a dadaist exploration of sense and nonsense. Surrealism moves into the 21st century with Rose's collages, text works, drawings, needlepoints and altered objects and books – works that are perhaps described as secrets wrapped in riddles that are visually baked and often French-fried.
Matthew's art is widely collected throughout the UK, Europe and the United States.
We do not currently offer a framing service; however, please find some advice on how best to frame this print below.
To compliment the various colours in this print we would recommend framing this in a dark wood frame. If you prefer something more simple to let the print really stand out on it's own then a plain white or black frame would work well.
This print measures 30cm by 40cm which is a standard frame size. Frames of this size can often be found in shops such as John Lewis and Ikea.
If you would prefer a frame tailored to specific requirements we would recommend taking the print to a local framer who would be able to offer expert advice and a wide variety of framing materials and options. There are also now many online framers who can custom make frames to your requirements. By searching online for 'custom frames' you will find many online framers stocking both standard sizes and frames custom made to any size, in a wide variety of options.
Vintage frames and pre-loved frames discovered in markets and charity shops can also provide unique and low-cost framing options. If a frame that you find is larger than the print fret not, a local framer should be able to cut a piece of mount that would allow the print to fit the frame perfectly.
